Be good...

but not too good...

Waiting for it to boil.

I took a "stay-cation" today.
I baked cookies with my new mixer (YUMMMM).
Danced around the apartment.
I crocheted a scarf (pictured).
Watched some of the bad movies in my small collection.

P.S. My texting limit has recently gone up, so text away!

Fröhliche Weihnachten!

Tonight was full of laughs. My cheeks hurt!

Grandma started off trying to tell us a Christmas story about a "silver pine cone." It somehow ended up going horribly wrong when she forgot the story half-way through and started improvising. Her new version included virgins and magic beans.

Don't worry, this was all documented in video, soon to be posted.

December 24, 2008

Oh family.
Most of my time today has been spent either baking Slovak cookies with my Aunt, or letting my Grandma in on what she missed while she was in the hospital.

It's pretty strange talking to a person who pretty much fell of the face of the planet for 5 months.

Right now, my Dad is crushing my Aunt in Scrabble.
He has all the “S” and blank tiles, while my Aunt has all the “O” tiles-- harsh.

The General (my cat) received an elf costume today. He has been sporting the holly-wreath necklace pretty proudly, but the green pointed hat came off hours ago.

Pictures coming soon.

Feed me knowledge...

I have decided that in the next few months I am going to splurge on additions to my library. With help from AbeBooks.com, I hope to acquire the following books:

--Freakonomics: A Rouge Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
By Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner

--Naked Lunch
By William Burroughs

--Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim
David Sedaris

--Running with Scissors
Augusten Burroughs

--Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy
Martin Lindstrom

and any books on Guerrilla Marketing...

...this is just a few, the list grows every-other day.
Any book suggestions?

Truths III

I can no longer associate myself with something that I have no control over. Thank you for making me realize that I can have values without a name.

I am Catie May, nice to meet you.

Duke of Monte Carlo

I am highly unaware that the Holidays are upon us.
All I'm able to tell is that people are a little more frazzled, and the environment at work has become increasingly more annoying (I never knew that there were so many elevator versions of 'White Christmas').

I've recently become more comfortable talking to people openly about my Mom. She was a fascinating woman, and I love telling stories about her. After divulging some fun facts about her to the ladies at work, they decided I need to write a book. In particular, about a certain love affair she had in the 70s.

I hope to have a book together by the end of 2009.

P.S.
Traffic is a bane on my existence.

windows up tight,
And I am home"

Wish I Something New to Tell Ya...

Such a ridiculous band, but I can't help but love them.
(they get cred for my blog title, too)

Black Coffee!

Every time I see this, I laugh until I cry.

Remembrance

Today my Mom would have turned 55 years old.
I miss her everyday.

I love you forever and always.

Times VI

I've started naming certain blog postings "Times #"
Each one of these posts contain a point in time in a certain song that I love.
(They will usually be breakdowns, since the majority of what I listen to is hardcore, but there is not much I can do about that.)

This is partially for me to remember, but partially for you, so you can understand me a little better.

'Cause, if you can't say it, say it through music, right?

Caustic Christ- "Destructive and Desperate"
Minutes:

Fact: Caustic Christ was the first punk show I went to. You're jealous.

Times V

So, I found a copy of Through Being Cool someone had burned me a while back.

Hooked.

The upbeat harmonies make the words so much more bittersweet.

Lost and Found

Last night I went to a dance party, my first. It was fun!
There will be much more dancing in my future.

I lost the key that I wear around my neck for an hour today at work. I couldn't breathe.

I always new I was attached, just never to this extent.
This key means so much to me that I could never put it in words.

I guess it really is the key to my heart.

11:11am. 11:11pm.

Today marked the end of classes for the 2008 Fall semester!
I celebrated by putting up my 'Catie-sized' x-mas tree:

I am so stoked on having time to do what I want. I already sewed a bit today, i've missed it.

Wish1. Wish2.

TCB

I think I'm going to be productive- A huge Salvation Army donation is in order. (I never thought that loosing weight would be annoying, congrats life- you're funny.)

Other than that, I really miss embroidering.
I drew up some lettering for "High Hopes" that looks tight. Now I just have to figure out what to sew it on!

Days seem so much better then you expect the worst, but get the best.

P.S. Goodbye Mr. Philly, it's been nice.
...It just sucks that there is already a song that reminds me of you.

Times IV

Pulling Teeth- "Stonethrowers"

Okay, Pulling Teeth, i'm hooked...
Most impressive breakdown i've heard in a while.

Minutes:
0:30 - 0:54, seriously- so brutal.
